Come along to a friendly, informal workshop creating a collaged seaside themed keyholder from reclaimed materials to display by your front door. Using imagery from the local coast and of course, your imagination!
All ages are most welcome!
Watercolour Landscapes with Lidia Ranns – Thursday 22.8.24 11am-3pm
There’s so many different techniques with watercolour, it’s an easy medium to start with, but also the hardest to master too, although this session will be aimed at beginners. I’ll be showing you how to command the water so it interacts and paints with you in some very simple guided wet on wet techniques creating sunset skies and silhouettes.
The emphasis here is fun and relaxing. I’m very patient and empathic and just want to share my knowledge and skills with other folk to show them how enjoyable art can be, and how much you can learn without any prior experience at all. Art can be a very therapeutic outlet, and it benefits your wellbeing too.
Dramatic Sky Painting with Hannah Robinson – Friday 23.8.24 11am-3pm
Join in and create your very own atmospheric skies with this free mixed media taster session. Using a combination of watercolours and inks, you will be able to capture any sky – whether that’s the grey skies of Lancaster or a stunning sunset.
Postcard Portraits with Reuben Bryant – Saturday 24.8.24 11am – 3pm

2023’s Lancaster Art Fair ran at the Storey in July and was a resounding success. A total of 15 artists took part and we had many visitors of all ages from across the area. The interactive aspects of the fair were very well received and our community art wall became a great celebration of colour and creativity, it was lovely to see so many people taking time to create and look around the artworks and just enjoy themselves! The fair felt really inclusive and carried through on one of it’s founding aims – that Art should be for everyone, the atmosphere was very relaxed and there was much positive feedback from the artists taking part and visitors alike.
2023’s fair was advertised across: Lancaster Guardian, Beyond Radio, BID and Visit Lancaster Summer Event Listings, Social media Via @lancasterartfair and @thestorey. Flyer and poster drop off’s in surrounding areas such Garstang, Kirby Lonsdale, Arnside and Silverdale, Carthforth etc and around Lancaster City Centre and University sites.
